Beno Udrih Will Play For The Bucks in 2012-2013
By JBrig Bucks Fan | Posted Tuesday, June 5
Beno Udrih will return to the Milwaukee Bucks for the 2012-2013 season. The backup point guard took advantage of a nearly eight million dollar option, choosing to stay with the team for a second year. The thirty-year old veteran was brought to the team last June in a trade with the Kings.
Though Udrih ultimately ended up as Brandon Jennings main reserve, his playing time dropped off drastically when he came to Milwaukee. Just a year after posting 2,734 playing minutes with the Kings (a career best,) the point-guard had just over 1,000 minutes on the court in 2011. His performance reflected that fact. Age may have been a factor as well. He attempted just fifty-nine three-pointers last season, hitting less than thirty percent of those. From the field, Udrih dropped forty-four percent of his shots.
Despite his reserve status, Udrih's impact on the team's fifth ranked offense was important. He averaged six points in fifty-nine games last year, as well as nearly four assists. Assists proved to be his strong point during the season, putting up more than his average in nineteen games, including ten in a game against Cleveland on March thirtieth. His efforts helped the team rank third in assists in the league, averaging an impressive twenty-three-and-a-half per game. His return will help keep a consistent backup behind Jennings, as well as continue the productive duo of himself and Mike Dunleavy Jr. on the bench.
