Milwaukee Bucks Lose Major Sponsor Income During Lockout
By Jackson Bucks Fan | Posted Wednesday, November 23
With the talks between NBA players and owners at a standstill, NBA sponsors have been forced to make moves that could compound the financial troubles of all those affected. Major sponsors like Miller/Coors have ceased paying for promotional opportunities lost. The Bucks were one of many teams that relied on those dollars. The negative impact of that lost revenue is disproportional, and will certainly be felt more by the small market teams like Milwaukee.
A few companies such as Harris Bank and Potawatomi Casino have not stopped their payments to the Bucks. Should they decide to follow along with the beer giant, the result could crush the hopes of the Milwaukee franchise. Some feel that Herb Kohl made the wrong move when he increased his profile during these tense negotiations. As the owner of a team that could certainly be the victim of league contraction, it might have been wiser for Kohl to avoid the spotlight.
